TEST PREPARATION – SAT / ACT / HSPT / OTHER

Whether preparing students for standardized tests (SAT, ACT, HSPT, GRE, GED, CBEST, CAHSEE, etc.), or classroom quizzes and tests, Scholars tutors are experts in helping students understand test content, improve pacing, become more productive in test settings, relieve test anxiety, and achieve higher scores.
SAT & ACT TEST PREPARATION -- 1:1 TUTORING / SMALL-GROUP CLASSES
Solid SAT and ACT test scores are game-changing factors for admissions and scholarship consideration by most colleges and universities. Applicants may be competing with thousands of others, so every point is important.
We know how to use the best tools to attain higher scores. Our tried-and-true prep program has resulted in improved scores for hundreds of students – making their college aspirations more attainable.

1:1 TUTORING: Through our individual test prep tutoring, we identify and target each student’s weak areas - whether specific subject comprehension, strategy, pacing, or test anxiety.

SMALL-GROUP CLASSES: Upon request, we are able to customize SAT and ACT Prep classes for groups of 3-8 students, in person or online. These 16-hour classes include test overview, strategy, subjects, pacing and practice drills. Students also receive 1:1 consultation on their individual test performances.

NOT SURE WHICH TEST TO TAKE? We have created an SAT/ACT Sampler test which includes sections of both practice tests for you to compare. It’s just one of a number of factors we will advise you about so you may make a well-informed decision as to which test is best for you.

Included in all our SAT/ACT Prep program is our expert analysis of students’ previous test score reports.
SAT PREP
Knowing test strategy is a vital key to success on the SAT test. In our course, specialized Scholars SAT tutors instruct students on test strategy while reviewing subject content within each of the test components – Reading, Writing-Language, Math & Essay. Students prefer our setting and individual attention to their questions and concerns over impersonal, formulaic “chain-store” options.

ACT PREP
As virtually all colleges now accept (some even prefer) ACT test scores, many students are taking the ACTs in lieu of, or in addition to, the SATs. SCHOLARS is one of very few tutoring centers in the Sacramento area offering comprehensive, professional ACT Prep classes. Is the ACT right for you? We will explain the pros and cons to taking the ACT.
Our ACT Prep curriculum concentrates on comprehensive review of the ACT subjects of English, Mathematics, Reading, Science & Essay. As with our SAT Prep, our ACT tutors are specialists in their subjects and of instruction and test strategy.

HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST (HSPT) PREPARATION
ATTENTION PARENTS OF 8thGRADERS:

Will your student be applying to attend ST. FRANCIS, CHRISTIAN BROTHERS, or JESUIT High School?

The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is required as part of the application process to area Catholic high schools. Acceptance and placement levels are based in part on HSPT test scores.

Admissions Offices assess applicants’ knowledge in the following HSPT subjects:

VERBAL, QUANTITATIVE, READING, LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICS, WRITING

Because we have worked directly with the Catholic school admissions, we are most familiar with the process and the HSPT. We provide comprehensive 1:1 tutoring to familiarize each student with the test subjects, pace and scoring, including practice test drills. In the process, we identify and correct students’ missteps. Our HSPT tutoring relieves test anxiety and prepares students to take on the test with ease – enabling them to achieve their best score potential.

OTHER TEST PREP
SCHOOL QUIZZES AND EXAMS:
Many parents tell us that their child “doesn’t test well”. And, many students experience mild to severe test anxiety when facing quizzes and tests. We have great success with our specialized tutoring process through which students are trained to become more relaxed and focused in test settings and soon start to achieve higher grades.
OTHER STANDARDIZED TESTS:
There are many other standardized tests in schools and for application to schools and programs. We have experience in tutoring many of these tests. Please give us a call to inquire about the testing in which you may need tutoring.
